Project Goals

To build anticipation for the new Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, Disney commissioned a set of animated “stickers” for use on their official social media accounts. With a kids-on-bikes vibe reminiscent of Stranger Things, the show called for an 8-bit pixel art style that captured both nostalgia and energy.

Project Realization

The animations were published as searchable GIPHY “stickers” through the official Star Wars Instagram account. Fans could add the animated pixel art characters to their own Instagram Stories, helping promote the show in a playful and shareable format.

Creative Process

Due to the show’s secrecy and the fast-paced release schedule, Jude produced the animations in small batches as characters were introduced. Ten animated pixel art GIFs were created in total, released week-by-week throughout the show’s first season.
